Labor Day 07
Sep 2 2007, 6:23 PM EDT Cornstubble is running for City Council in Lafayette. He will not run again for Congress. Rick is supporting Ackerson, but no public endorsement yet. Ackerson is a "get out of Iraq" progressive that might have more appeal in the district. Ackerson, a lawyer, has some credibility in the district by defending local landowners against the railroads and utilities. Anderson would have more time to devote to a campaign than Sanders. Ackerson campaign has already started and he is actively soliciting workers and money. Sanders probably will run again. Sanders is stridently anti-war and anti-Steve Buyer. We know what he is against but his positive message for the district gets lost. Sanders runs low budget campaigns that incumbent Buyer ignores to no consequence. Sanders hurt his candidacy last time by failing to show up at the State Convention. Sanders campaigns have been pretty independent. Sanders has not attracted a lot of netroots support or engaged in a lot of party building activities. The district is largely rural with next to no party presence. It needs a major organizing effort. Buyer could be vulnerable to a good challenger because the Veterans hate Buyer (he was chair of VA affairs) and he rarely appears in his home district. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |
