Blunt is Endangered
Aug 2 2007, 5:30 PM EDT
Matt Blunt is a lot more endangered than you make him out to be in this page. Although Missouri has been trending conservative since the 2000 election, Blunt isn't liked even by some conservatives.

I went to Jefferson City last year to lobby for ProMO (a gay rights group in Missouri). While we weren't really able to get anything done, I did notice that people had come out in droves from health care facilities and were hopping mad at him. His approval rating simply has never recovered since the giant health care cuts he made in 2005.

A Survey USA poll has Blunt down 19 points from his opponent, the well-known AG, Jay Nixon. Here's the poll:

Granted, there is still a lot of politicing to be done, and Survey USA polls aren't always accurate. Still, 19 points is a lot in any race.

It will probably all come down to voter turnout. If the social conservatives can find a way to get their people out to vote (and to stifle the black vote), Blunt may get re-elected. If not, Blunt will probably go down.
