There are times and races where the color of your skin matters, right or wrong.

I do a lot of candidate updates, and often I found myself wanting to include demograhic info that is perceived to have a potential impact on the race.

Everytime I back away however.

But using the recently vacated 37th CD in California where Juanita Millender-McDonald just passed away as an example, the district is approx. 43% hispanic, 25% black, and Millender-McDonald the former office holder was a member of the Black Caucus on Capitol Hill.

It is sometimes hard to remember every biography fact of every politician that considers running for Congress or a Governorship.

I think the info is enough as is but that is because my interest is just finding candidates. If you wish you can do the demographics i guess.

wow, I just blogged more-or-less about this in my dKos diary today. One of the points I made in the LA-Gov race was that racism was going to be a factor this year as it was in 2003 because the republican front-runner, Bobby Jindal, is Indian, and that turns off a lot of the redneck-Americans here in LA. Demographic information is essential in every race. Opinions on how to best make use of that knowledge will vary, but knowledge is power. Do you find this valuable?

Demographic information is only useful to racist.

I see no reason to include it.
