Mark Warner
Nov 24 2006, 3:47 PM EST At the Webb campaign's final post-election party, I heard wide speculation that Mark Warner will NOT run for this Senate seat. The CW seems to be that a Senate seat for M. Warner is by far less attractive than another run at Governor in 2009. I feel pretty strongly that Virginia Democrats need to search in earnest for a challenger to either John Warner (if he runs again) or any of the other Republicans who would try to succeed John Warner in the same way that they found Webb when challenging Allen. Any thoughts on this? Anyone from the Virginia Assembly who would have potential? The other name I heard widely discussed was that of Doug Wilder. That's pure speculation, however. 3 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Mark Warner
Nov 25 2006, 2:21 AM EST Warner did not want the extensive travel required of a Presidential candidate while he had kids at home, but he could run in the state either for Governor again or for Senate. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Mark Warner
Dec 2 2006, 11:08 AM EST That's the impression I have also. In fact, it's probably true of George Allen as well. He's just not that into being a senator, and being governor is more his style. So if I had to bet, I'd go for a Warner-Allen faceoff in 2009, not 2008. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
