RE: 2010
Sep 7 2008, 1:32 AM EDT That is a very difficult question to answer because it pre supposes results from 2008. My personal interest is in the house which is all the more harder to read. Having said that here is a look forward to what I think will be interesting races for Dems on offense either as 2008 pick ups or in 2010. Races where I think we can/will pick up in 2008 or 2010 are included. AK-AL, AL-02, AL-03, AZ-02, AZ-03, CA-04, CA-26, CA-45, DE-AL, FL-08, FL-10, FL-13, FL-21, FL-24, FL-25, IL-10, IL-11, IL-13, IA-04, KY-02, LA-04, LA-07, MD-01, MI-07, MI-08, MI-09, MI-11, MN-02, MN-06, MO-06, MO-09, NV-02, NV-03, NJ-02, NJ-03, NJ-05, NJ-07, NM-01, NM-02, NY-03, NY-13, NY-23, NY-25, NY-26, NY-29, NC-08, OH-01, OH-02, OH-12, OH-15, OH-16, PA-03, PA-06, PA-15, PA-18, TX-07, TX-10, VA-05, VA-11, WA-08, WV-02, WY-AL. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. RE: 2010
Sep 7 2008, 11:07 AM EDT Hhmmm your partisan leanings may well be coming out given that 5/6 of your selected races have democratic incumbents. However the gov races is a short list so here's my take on them all (forgive my ignorance about term limits in some states). AL - Riley runs and wins. Lean Repub otherwise. AK - Palin/Parnell runs and wins. AZ - Napolitano runs and wins otherwise a tossup. AR - Beebe or any other Dem runs and wins. CA - Likely Dem pick up Arnie is term limited. CO - Ritter runs and wins. CT - Toss up depending on Dem candidate if Rell runs Dem pick up otherwise. FL - Crist runs and wins. GA - Perdue or any other Repub runs and wins. HI - Lingle runs and wins or likely Dem pick up otherwise. ID - Otter or any other Repub runs and wins. IL - Any Dem wins. IA - Culver runs and wins. KS - Sebelius runs and wins otherwise Toss Up. ME - Any Dem wins MD - O'Malley runs and wins. MA - Any Dem wins. MI - Toss Up MN - Toss Up NE - Any Repub wins. NV - Toss Up NH - Any Dem wins. NM - Richardson runs and wins otherwise Likely Dem. NY - Any Dem wins. OH - Strickland runs and wins. OK - Henry runs and wins. OR - Any Dem wins. PA - Any Dem wins. RI - Any Dem wins - Carcieri term limited. SC - Any Repub wins. SD - Rounds run and wins otherwise Herseth-Sandlin runs and wins (D). TN - Toss Up TX - Any Repub wins. VT - Douglas runs and wins otherwise any Dem wins. WI - Any Dem wins. WY - Freudenthal runs and wins otherwise Likely Repub. What's your take on the House or are we off to the Senate? 3 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: 2010
Sep 7 2008, 6:34 PM EDT On the CA-GOV race, peg that as Lean Democrat. As for who I want running, I think that Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi and Republican Insurance Commissioner Steve Poinzer will run. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: 2010
Sep 7 2008, 7:40 PM EDT Yep you are probably right. Lean or likely this far out is neither here nor there allthough I honestly believe that Arnie is the only Repub who can who can win statewise in California. Your thoughts on the house? :) 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: 2010
Sep 8 2008, 12:03 PM EDT I will now explain my reasons for posting on the Gubernatorial races. AZ-GOV: On the Republican side of the aisle, I want to see State Treasurer Dean Martin or Secretary of State Jan Brewer runs for Governor on the Republican side. The only way this is competative is if Attorney General Terry Goddard, Congressman Harry Mitchell, or Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords runs. GA-GOV: I want Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine to emerge from a probable primary with Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle. For the Democrats, I would like to see either entrenched State Representative Wade Starr or then Two Term State Representative Mike Glanton run, I would likely support Glanton in the primary. KS-GOV: On the Republican side of the aisle, I would like to see Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger or Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh run. On the Democratic side, I want to see Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson or former Lieutenant Governor John Moore run. OK-GOV: On the Republican side of the aisle, I would like to see former Congressmen Steve Largent or Ernest Istook, or former Secretary of Energy Bob Sullivan run(Preferably Largent). On the Democratic side, I want to see State Treasurer Scott Mecham run. TN-GOV: On the Republican side of the aisle, I would like to see former State Senator Jim Bryson run. On the Democratic side, I want to see Congressman Lincoln Davis run. WY-GOV: On the Republican Side of the aisle, I want to see State GOP chairman Fred Parady or Secretary of State Max Maxfield run. On the Democratic side, I want to see State Senator Mike Massie or Attorney Paul Hickey run. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |
