Write-in Candidate for US Representative in MO-7
Sep 3 2008, 12:14 AM EDT Having filed the proper paperwork with the Missouri Secretary of State's office, I am an official write-in candidate for US Representative against Roy Blunt in Missouri's 7th Congressional district. I am an anti-war & social justice activist, and have arguably done as much to expose the truth about Roy Blunt's corruption as anybody in this district. I ran against him in 2006 in the Republican primary as a "progressive conservative"; although outspent 1000 to 1, I recieved 7% of the vote as the first transgender woman to run for federal office in the state of Missouri. After losing that election, I went to the nation's capitol in 2007 where I represented myself in Congress. I am probably best known for standing behind Valerie Plame with a pink IMPEACH BUSH NOW t-shirt while she was testifying before the House Government Oversight committee. I've also gotten a lot of exposure for my creative protests of Bush administration officials inside dozens of Congressional hearings. Here is a link to media I have gotten over the past several years: http://www.geocities.com/potts4congress/press.html If you would like to find out more information about my positions on issues ranging from environmental responsibility to election reform, check out my website: http://www.MidgePotts.com I now am a member of the Green Party which currently does not have ballot access in Missouri. When thousands of people in southwest Missouri vote for me in the November 4th general election, it will undoubtedly send a big message to Washington DC that people are sick and tired of politics as usual. By asking people to "vote outside the box," I hope to empower voters and to change the way people look at the democratic process. Do you find this valuable? |
