Heather Ryan broke housing agreement for DNC
Aug 7 2008, 12:35 AM EDT Heather agreed to stay at a house in Northglenn, CO for the DNC. She agreed to send a $150 deposit and call the person with whom she made the agreement via e-mail. She did not, ignoring repeated e-mails and voicemails inquiring about the missing deposit. The public should be aware that she broke her agreement. RE: Heather Ryan broke housing agreement for DNC
Aug 28 2008, 10:58 PM EDT Who cares??? Heather decided with so many events going on in her district that it would not be good for her to go to the convention. She did not want to send the wrong message to her donors that she was vacationing in Denver with their money. I went to the convention in her stead, and already had housing. I am the blogger mentioned in the email. It should have been no problem finding someone to stay there. I notice your username, and have a few questions. Are you concerned about Whitfield constantly voting against Renewables with all the stock in Big Oil he owns? Are you concerned that Ed Whitfield votes against healthcare for even children? Are you concerned that Ed Whitfield uses the Constitution for toilet paper by voting for FISA? Are you concerned that Ed Whitfield takes money from convicted terrorists and doesn't give it back? Are you concerned that Whitfield campaign staffers steal and vandalize Democratic signs, including Heather Ryan's? The character of his campaign starts from the top and runs down. There are a lot of things to be concerned about in this race. Heather Ryan not attending the DNC is not one of them. 2 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Heather Ryan broke housing agreement for DNC
Aug 29 2008, 10:42 AM EDT My response will focus on Heather Ryan, as I want my posts to stay focused on her breaking the housing agreement and not sending the deposit. I am stunned that you think this is ok. Do you understand that she directly told me on a Tuesday that she would get the deposit in the mail and call me on Thursday? And that she then ignored my follow-up e-mails for two weeks? And that I trusted her much more than I would a typical craigslist responder due to her position? I told her that I had others interested, yet I lost out on those people. But let's stay focused, the point is that she behaved in a disrespectful manner toward me. Whether we had a legal agreement yet or not, she gave her written word via e-mail and then broke that work. This, while not illegal, is certainly unethical. The fact that you and the rest of her campaign staff seem to think this behavior is acceptable simply validates my concern about her and her campaign. She changed her mind about attending well after she broke her word. I went out of my way to trust her and followed up on the deposit for two weeks. If you notice, the reply that I finally received said nothing about skipping the convention, rather it said that they would see about staying with someone else. This is further evidence that she is not trustworthy. Had she sent the deposit and called as promised, and then changed her mind and chosen not to attend, thereby forfeiting the deposit, that would be one thing. But this is not the order that things happened in. All she had to do was either follow-though on her word, or admit she screwed up and apologize. She has done neither. Thus, I cannot consider your her to be a person of integrity, and I will do my bit to spread the word. 3 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Heather Ryan broke housing agreement for DNC
Aug 31 2008, 6:58 PM EDT I read the exchanges between the parties and I noted this reply from the Ryan campaign: “Perhaps you are unaware of the fact that the Ryan for Congress campaign has been inundated with an event called the Fancy Farm Picnic for the past two weeks which is considered a do-or-die event in Western Kentucky politics and can make or break a campaign if every detail is not carefully planned. With your threatening tone over the past three messages and voice mails, it is safe to assume that your offer was not the best for our campaign anyway. Yes, please assume that this was not a good fit and we will attempt to find other accommodations for the convention. Your lack of understanding of grassroots campaign politics and Western Kentucky issues is evidence that we should accept the offer from the Kentucky native instead.” I have to assume that the voice messages (which are conveniently unavailable) did have a threatening tone. Money up front always guarantees that a deal has in fact been struck. Take all offers and whoever sends the money first gets it! If I were running for an office I'm sure I would be hard pressed to find the time in my schedule for every event. I'm sure I'd pick the events that would most help my efforts. There are many details to consider in situations such as these. The biggest detail I can immediately point out is the fact the Heather Ryan has still been unable to raise enough money to run television ads. And I can tell you with relative certainty that choosing between spending less to send 1 person vs. her arriving with her entire family was an easy choice. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
