Background Information
Senator John Cornyn, a one-term Republican incumbent, is due for his first re-election campaign in 2008. Cornyn is a staunch conservative and Bush-ally, in favor of constitutionally outlawing equal rights for gay Americans, in favor of strict abortion criminalization, has a consistent voting record against public schools, is a major proponent of big-oil corporations. Cornyn has been rated 100% by the Christian Coalition, an "A" from the NRA, and given very low marks from national teachers associations, NARAL, enviromental organizations, and senior citizens organizations.Four Democrats ran in the March 4 primary election to challenge Cornyn. State Rep. Richard J. (Rick) Noriega won the primary by a substantial margin, receiving 51% of the vote.
FEC numbers indicate that Cornyn raised just under 10 million dollars for his first election campaign in 2002. The most recent SurveyUSA polling (11/12/06, MoE 4.1%) indicates that Cornyn has an approval rating of 45% (42% disapprove). This makes him the 89th most popular Senator, or the 11th most unpopular Senator.
Note: Cornyn may have ties to convicted mega-lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Bill White is a proven RECENT vote getter. Barbara Ann Radnofsky would do better to run for lower office first. John Sharp has been out of the game for too long--where was he in 2006 for helping other Dems? Ron Kirk is all about Ron. Bill White stands the best chance.
