Background Information
Michael McNulty (D - Green Island), has represented this eastern New York district, encompassing the Capital Region and portions of the Mohawk Valley since 1988, when Samuel Stratton (D - Schenectady) retired. The Albany Democratic Machine has kept the district in safe Democratic hands, despite the fact that some of the rural, outlying counties, especially Schoharie, lean towards the GOP.
