Background Information
The California 11th district has historically been a strongly conservative district, but it has become more Democratic recently with the arrival of liberal transplants from San Francisco. However, it still leans Republican, particularly in the more rural areas such as Tracy, while the Democrats are concentrated in the periphery of the Bay Area in towns like Pleasanton.
