2008 Race Tracker
Welcome to the 2008 Race Tracker wiki. The goal of this site is to track information on U.S. elections taking place in 2008. For now, the focus is on Senate, House and gubernatorial races. We're aiming to input data on possible candidates for every such election in the nation. Please feel free to dive right in and add what you know. We strongly encourage you to use the built-in templates.
If you've heard about a candidate possibly running for office, please either include a link to a reputable news source or clearly note that what you've added is merely a rumor, an educated guess, a recruitment idea, or just "conventional wisdom." (Rumors are okay! As long as they aren't completely without basis in reality.)
These are the main pages:
Sub-pages dealing with each race branch off from each of those. For House races, each state gets a sub-page, with individual races branching off at that point. For some examples, check out NH-Gov, MT-Sen, the Arizona House main page and the AZ-08 page. Thank you for your contributions!

I was a John Edwards guy from the get go! Tomorrow my state of NY and 23 others go to caucus amd primary. I can support either of these two Democratic finalists. How will I vote, if I believed in the antage that in the primary you get to fall in love but in the general you got to fall in line, I would vote Obama. But I am instead voting for Hillary. No, I do not love her politics but I love her grit, determination, combativeness and resiliency. She is the energizer bunny and that makes her likely to defeat the Republicans in November. Which way are you folks going on SDT?

Adam Sullivan is challenging Rep. Jerrold Nadler for the right to represent the people of New York ’s 8th Congressional District. Nadler is a member of the House Judiciary Committee which has original jurisdiction over the bills introduced by Dennis Kucinich to impeach Dick Cheney and, more recently, Bush himself.
Like millions of his fellow citizens, Adam Sullivan became outraged at the lies, corruption and incompetence of the Bush administration. He became a member of AskNadler2Impeach.org which was formed by neighbors in the 8th CD to put pressure on Nadler to support the call for impeachment hearings. Over 2295 people have signed AskNadler2Impeach’s petition. The organization also sponsored a Town Hall discussion on impeachment in March where speakers included Bruce Fein, Elizabeth Holtzman and Scott Horton. Rep. Nadler was invited to attend but chose not make an appearance (for info about obtaining a DVD of the event email info@asknadler2impeach.org). Adam Sullivan, AskNadler2Impeach and citizens across this country believe that when Jerrold Nadler took an oath to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion” it meant something. Public servants like Nadler, John Conyers and Nancy Pelosi should not be permitted to shirk a duty they owe the country because it might prove to be politically inconvenient. There is more at stake here than the near term political fortunes of the Democratic Party. No elected official should be allowed to flout the law the way Bush and Cheney have. If you are a registered Democrat in New York State and agree with these sentiments, we need your help. Join us to collect signatures to get Adam Sullivan on the ballot for the September Democratic primary. The petitioning period ends July 10th. To volunteer, donate, or for more information about the campaign, go to SullivanforCongress.net. |
