Hi,
I am an independently minded independent who decided to follow a strong inner call to run for this position, for the US Senate, after a very active summer when I hosted a group of 80 campers at our farm in Maine during the anti-war march in Kennebunkport, Maine. I've been involved in politics before when I ran in 2002 after being requested by the Democratic Party to be their candidate for State Rep. They didn't plan on my opening my mouth much and when I spoke out against the war in a big way, they got nervous about me. Nevertheless I stayed in the race and did better than all their other local and state candidates in my area. It pays to stand up for what you believe. I've always believed you can accomplish worthy things when you stay true to your ideals and do not allow yourself to get corrupted in the process or sell out or keep silent when it's important to speak out. I am a real person and I will be criticized for not looking or acting like the 'typical' candidate. However I am true to my conscience and that's what our leaders should respond to, and we should know what they stand for. I am not for big money, private interests and politics as usual. I will be a fiery candidate on the issues that should be discussed right now, but aren't: ending the war now by immediately moving troops out of harm's way, impeachment now of Cheney as the prime culprit and to help prepare for for potential investigations into treason by Bush, and single payer health care. I am also for the return of habeus corpus and a strong defense of our Constitutional rights and privileges, a moratorium on foreclosures until the crisis is resolved, a new monetary financial system which protects the common good and general welfare over the corporate financier oligarchs, the ending of NAFTA, and energy, economic and environmental policies that ensure a humane contribution by the US as one country, among a community of sustainable and sovereign nation states around the world, working toward together for the mutual benefit and betterment of all. There must be protections of our country, however, from the invaders who would attack us our nation by weakening its defenses, most notably its Constitutional protections of the commonwealth of our nation. I will not let the country become invaded, sacked and looted by the corporate banking policies which have burdened the economies around the world with unsustainable debt, built on speculative and illusory gambling on derivatives and the endless buildup of the military industrial complex, as Eisenhower warned. We must have a strong productive physical economy, with solid and efficient infrastructure and public transportation-- and any banks which seek to operate in our country should get the sovereign credit of the United States extended to them only to the extent that they advance our best interests as a country of citizens protected in their natural rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It's time to put an end to the golden parachute mentality and the free ride expectations of politicians, lobbyists empire-mongering CEO's and their ilk. I know what it is like to fight hard--right now my husband is dealing with a serious brain tumor and is a one year survivor. We are together in this fight, along with our children, and are resolved that the world should be a better place by our commitment on this deep level to change the playground rules in the high offices of our country. Please help and look at my website at www.dobsonforsenate.com for ways you can offer your own powers of creativity, will and effort to make this campaign succeed! We need you! Thanks....
